BrownGuard 2000 ankle orthosis type 02
The BrownGuard 2000 ankle orthosis type 02 is made of 3D knit fabric with hook-and-loop fasteners. The orthosis works by rigidly affixing the ankle joint to produce the required therapeutic effect. The orthosis is removable and the effect is supported by three integrated metal splints (two are lateral and one is anatomically shaped over the Achilles tendon and heel under the foot) and a flexible figure-eight bandage. A plastic plantar support is placed in the foot area to improve fixation. The patient should feel a slight, even pressure along the entire length of the orthosis.

The orthosis is unfastened along its entire length and applied to the ankle area so that the anatomically shaped splint is on the heel and two straight splints on the sides of the ankle, then the hook-and-loop straps are fastened. To ensure rigid fixation, tighten the elastic figure-eight bandage over the orthosis. You should feel a slight, not uncomfortable pressure along the entire length of the orthosis. When putting on the orthosis, it should not come into contact with sharp objects (e.g. jewellery or long nails). If you use body cosmetics, wait about 15 minutes after application before putting on the orthosis. In case of visible mechanical damage, do not continue to use the orthosis and preferably replace it with a new one.
